The Jewish value of
tikkun olam
(repairing the world) can be lived in many ways, and for Karen Klass, a big part of it means enriching the lives of people with disabilities. She grew up volunteering for Keshet programs and now serves on their Junior Board. Karen finds her own life enriched when she sees the joy Keshet programs provide to every participant, staff and family member.
It was Karen's deep desire to advocate for those who are unable to do so for themselves that led her to become an attorney. Now a second-year associate at Latham & Watkins, Karen finds time to do pro bono legal work for individuals with disabilities, asylum seekers and others, and her law firm is also a regular supporter of Keshet.
Karen is also a member of the Equip for Equality Young Professionals Board, which offers legal services to individuals with disabilities throughout Illinois.
