Parents whose child has ongoing, life-threatening asthma rarely have a break. Whether their child is hospitalized or at home, they face constant worry, monumental medical bills, and paperwork.

Enter kind and caring pulmonary social worker Kayleigh Eisenstein. On the front lines at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, she supplies concrete resources to families affected by COVID-19. In addition, she provides individual and group therapy sessions for her fellow medical team members to help them cope with stress.

Her kindness extends beyond hospital walls as she works with the Legal Council for Health Justice to help families obtain legal aid for school and work issues resulting from their child's health condition. She has worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help families experience a "normal" moment together.

She is an active member at Anshe Shalom, coordinating meals for families with new babies, and volunteers as a mikvah attendant.

A JEW WHO INSPIRES YOU:
A Jew who inspires me is Rabbanit Leah Sarna. She has made an enormous impact on our shul community and has empowered women in the Orthodox community through her strong leadership and empathetic character. She is a role model for our community as a Jewish scholar and a female leader of our community. Her innovative and thoughtful programming enriched our family learning and I am incredibly grateful for her strength and grace as the first Rabbanit of Anshe Sholom.

YOUR BEST PIECE OF ADVICE:
Be kind to one another as you never know what someone else is going through.

HOW YOU JEW IN CHICAGO:
I am fortunate to be a part of such a warm, loving, and accepting Jewish community at Anshe Sholom. Before social restrictions were instituted, my family attended shul every week, hosted Shabbos meals, and played an active role in the community. We miss it very much and look forward to when we will be able to daven together again.
