Doug Adolph

Doug Adolph

There isn’t a whole lot of time in Doug Adolph’s day when he isn’t doing something to help others. Seriously—when he’s not working as the director of development at the Alzheimer's Association, he’s spending his evening at a board meeting for Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lake Forest College Alumni or B’nai Brith Sports Lodge. And if he doesn’t have a board meeting, he’s probably attending events or serving on a committee for the ADL, AIPAC and more—or being there for his family in the suburbs.

“Just knowing [Doug] motivates everyone to get involved in something meaningful,” said Roslyn Turner, Doug’s friend and 2012 Double Chai honoree, who credits Doug with her increased involvement in the Jewish community.

Doug doesn’t know who his celebrity doppelganger would be, but we’re pretty confident it’s Joel McHale, the star of NBC’s Community – which, given everything there is to know about Doug, seems pretty fitting.

How do you Jew in Chicago?
Judaism is a meaningful part of my life. Whether attending and supporting ADL, AIPAC or Israel Bonds events, I try to support the excellent Jewish organizations that support our community. And probably most important, returning to the suburbs (and my childhood synagogue) to partake in my niece and nephew's life cycle events as Jewish little people tops the list.

Passions:
My family. Being active. Traveling. Helping others. New adventures. Good conversation.

How do you give back?
Both personally and professionally, giving back is a significant part of my life. Not only do I support, attend and donate to Alzheimer's Association initiatives, but I'm also an active participant in Cycle for Survival, the Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, my alma mater Lake Forest College and the B'nai B'rith Sports Lodge.

Fill in the blank: If time and money were limitless, I would:
Visit every country in the world, buy a boat and make sure that a meaningful education is available to everyone who wants one.
