Amy Rubenstein

When Amy Rubenstein thought about opening her own theater company, she envisioned a theater where audiences could watch both high art and high entertainment. She wanted the prices to be accessible for a new generation of theatergoers, and she wanted the space to showcase the work of visual artists as well. Amy is fulfilling all of her thespian dreams as artistic director at the Windy City Playhouse, a professional, all equity, live performance theater in Irving Park.

With that in mind, you might be surprised to learn that Amy also co-owns and operates Windy City RE, one of Chicago's most active real estate companies, with her husband and her brother. She even helped purchase a new building for Chicago Jewish Day School, where her two children attend. Amy is involved with many Jewish organizations and is passionate about making meaningful Jewish, educational and cultural experiences affordable for all.

Chicago's Jewish community in 10 years:

I would love to have free Jewish education for any family who wants it, since today it’s not affordable for many.
